If you have made very many scrapbooks, you know how costly albums can be to purchase. This cost is all too apparent if you are making scrapbooks that are designed to be given away as gifts or if you are one of those prolific scrapbookers with dozens or even hundreds of scrapbooks. However, there is an alternative to expensive albums when binding your scrapbooks. You can use spiral coil (also called color coil).

One of the best things about spiral coil is that it is available in almost any length and color imaginable. Currently, spiral coil is available in more than 64 stock colors. No matter what color scheme that you choose for your scrapbook, there is most likely a color available that will match. Recently a number of new colors of spiral coil were released including: Charcoal, Electric Blue, Magenta, Fluorescent Green, Dark Purple, Fluorescent Pink, Fluorescent Orange, Burnt Orange, Spiral Blue, Plum, Neon Green, Pearl, Goldenrod, Light Teal, Lilac, Process Blue, Copper and Tangerine. Using the different colors available on the market, you can give almost any scrapbook its own customized appearance.

Spiral Coil also lends itself extremely well to scrapbooking since you can buy coils in almost any size or length imaginable. Color coil is available in sizes as small as 6mm (1/4″) and as large as 50mm (2″) however it works best in sizes up to 1″ (25mm). Coil can also be ordered in almost any length up to 36″ long and can be easily cut to the correct length if needed. This flexibility makes it possible to bind almost any size of scrapbook including 12″ x 12″, 8″ x 8″ and 8.5″ x 11″ albums.

Traditionally, the equipment to punch holes for spiral coil binding has been too expensive for the home market. However, there are now a few different hole punches that make coil binding affordable for doing scrapbooking and creating memory books. For 11″ x 8.5″ albums, GBC (General Binding Corporation) recently introduced a new binding punch called the ProClick P50. The ProClick P50 costs about $60 and can be used in conjunction with 3:1 pitch spiral coil for an extremely economical coil binding solution.

For individuals who are looking to bind scrapbooks with a binding edge shorter or longer than 11″ the PC200 plastic coil binding machine is ideal. The PC200 coil binding machine costs approximately $250 and has 46 disengageable punch pins allowing you to bind documents as short as 1 inch long and as long as 21 inches long (using the open throat design). This machine uses 4:1 pitch color coil which is more readily available and slightly cheaper than 3:1 pitch coil. Using the PC200 you can bind dozens or even hundreds of scrapbooks without difficulty.

Although it is true that as we age, we find that we can’t walk quite as fast or play sports quite as hard as we could in our twenties. A healthy diet, regular exercise, and the right dietary supplements can make a huge difference in our health, strength, and mobility. Similarly, we find that we may not think as quickly as we used to, misplacing our keys occasionally and experiencing more losses of words. Although this is an ordinary problem with aging, in a small number of cases, these mental slips can be the first sign of a serious disease of aging such as Alzheimer’s disease. Just like our physical health, we can improve our mental health by eating healthy foods, taking the right supplements, and regularly exercising our minds, we can significantly increase our mental endurance, improve our memory, and increase our ability to focus. Research has proven that specific herbs and vitamins, especially Ginkgo biloba, Bacopa monnieri, folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12, and alpha lipoic acid, have powerful effects on memory and focus. They have been scientifically proven to reduce age-related changes as well as the risk of developing more serious problems like Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, or other brain diseases later in life.

As we age, our nerve cells need more time to connect, which slows the process of bringing memories and events to mind. Almost everyone middle-aged and older notices this slowdown as memory decline and problems with mental focus are a normal part of aging. Although it is true that the older we get, the greater chance we have of developing Alzheimer’s disease, this illness is not a normal part of aging. Alzheimer’s which is an irreversible, progressive dementia occurs when nerve cells are slowly killed in areas of the brain where memory, learning, thought, and language take place. It first appears when people begin retirement, making the “golden years” a time of loss and devastation as memories vanish, relationships are erased, and independence is gradually lost. After Alzheimer’s disease, the second most common cause of dementia in elderly people is multi-infarct dementia, caused by a series of mini-strokes that damage or destroy brain tissue over time. Usually affecting people between the ages of 60 and 75, men are slightly more at risk, while high blood pressure is the most significant risk factor for multi-infarct dementia. Along with these, multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, strokes, Huntington’s disease, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, and alcoholism can cause progressive and irreversible dementia.

There are some types of memory and focus loss that are reversible. As women enter menopause, they often experience trouble remembering caused by hormone fluctuations, which can affect speech, thinking, and attention. Symptoms of memory loss and poor focus related to menopause include recognizing faces less well, missing scheduled appointments, and misplacing articles. However, once a woman passes through menopause, her ability to remember and focus usually improves. Some medications, including statins, can temporarily interfere with memory. Low vitamin B levels, artherosclerosis, and thyroid disease can cause disruption of mental focus and memory loss as well. There problems are usually resolved with treatment of the underlying problem. Transient ischemic attacks (TIA), which are a certain type of stroke, can cause memory loss that may be reversible. TIAs are brief episodes of stroke symptoms that come quickly and are often referred to as a mini-stroke warning stroke and are caused by a temporary interruption in the blood supply to the brain. Unlike a stroke, a TIA does not cause permanent damage. However, it is likely to occur again if it is not properly managed and can be a warning of a future, more serious, stroke.

If you or someone you know are concerned about your memory, you should contact a health care practitioner and be examined. Once the cause of your memory and focus problem is found, you can begin treatment. Although not all dementias can be cured, all cases of memory loss and mental focus disruption can be treated and slowed, even Alzheimer’s disease.

There have been several herbs and vitamins that have demonstrated improvement in memory and mental focus. Some of these supplements work now to improve memory and focus, while others work to prevent problems that might arise later. Ginkgo biloba, which has been proven to improve memory problems we are having now, has been shown to improve many brain functions such as speeding up memory recall, protecting brain cells from chemical changes and free radical damage, improving blood flow to the brain, and helping nerve cells communicate with each other better. Ginkgo has been proven to improve memory, attention, and clarity of thinking, as well as helping to restore memories lost in a TIA. Ginkgo also has shown effects in slowing down Alzheimer’s disease just as well as prescription drugs with no side effects.

Like gingko, Bacopa monnieri, which grows in India, works on the memory and focus problems that we are experiencing now. A recent study proved that bacopa is able to improve the ability to remember new information in people.

Alpha lipoic acid (ALA), a vitamin-like coenzyme which prevents memory and focus problems we might have later on, is an incredibly powerful antioxidant which works especially well with other antioxidants. Alpha lipoic acid has great antioxidant action in almost all the tissues of the body, helps generate energy from food and oxygen, can get directly to the nerves, and plays an important role in the antioxidant network. Research has proven that ALA prevents the free radical damage that occurs in Alzheimer’s disease, as well as regulates protective chemicals in the brain that help to improve symptoms. What makes ALA unique among antioxidants is that it can neutralize free radicals in both the fat and the water of cells. Since ALA is easily absorbed, enters cells and tissues in a highly useable form, performs a variety of antioxidant actions, and is both fat and water soluble, it is labeled as the “ideal antioxidant” by many researchers.

Vitamin B6, an essential nutrient in the regulation of nerve transmissions, is required by the nervous system for normal brain function and may also help with mood. Similar to ALA, vitamins B6 and B12 help prevent memory and focus problems later on. Vitamins B6 and B12 also reduce homocysteine levels, which irritates blood vessels, making it easier for blood to clot and causing cholesterol to become more harmful. Because people with Alzheimer’s disease and other types of dementias have elevated homocysteine levels, reducing these levels may prevent the occurrence of Alzheimer’s disease, or other brain diseases, and improve the symptoms of those already afflicted.

For a long time, folic acid has been recognized as a vital nutrient for the brain and spinal cord. Recent research has shown that folic acid also has significant importance in Alzheimer’s disease, as it lessens brain damage from the disease.

Besides taking these nutrients, if you are having memory and focus problems, you may want to have your health care practitioner measure your B vitamin level in your blood, because many people do not know if they have B-vitamin deficiency. However, this type of lab work is fairly expensive. Because supplements do not replace the need for a healthy diet, make sure to eat more of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and omega-3 fatty acids to keep your brain and body healthy. Research has also shown that people who seek opportunities to keep mentally active, have a lower risk of Alzheimer’s disease. Therefore, make sure to read books, newspapers, magazines, solve crossword puzzles, and play card games with family and friends. Great supplements like alpha lipoic acid and B-6 along with herbs for memory can be found at your local or internet health food store.

Post natal flab is something that all new mothers are anxious to shed as soon as they give birth and is a challenge for many women. Given that the body goes through many changes and hormonal challenges for nine months, it is no wonder that trying to lose weight after giving birth takes time, determination and patience. Some women never got back their shape and weight of pre-pregnancy days.

Doctors recommend that in the first 6 weeks after delivery, new mothers should focus on getting the necessary rest and bonding with baby. According to doctors, in most cases, a return to pre-pregnancy body composition may take anywhere between nine months to a year.

There are many ways to shed off post natal flab and postpartum exercise is most often a better option than trying to diet. Dieting is not sensible at this time, especially if you are breastfeeding. Your body also needs the necessary nutrients to repair itself.

Your readiness to exercise is a function of pre-pregnancy fitness level and postpartum health status. When you are ready to resume exercise after six weeks, ensure that you use a good support bra for comfort during exercise. It should be a gradual and not a sudden and vigorous routine. Exercise should not cause any associated pain or any bleeding.

If you have adequate postpartum exercises as suggested below, it should aid a speedier return to your pre-pregnancy figure, increase your energy level to cope with demands of newborn baby.

1. Pelvic Floor Exercise Tighten your anus as thouigh you are trying to prevent yourself from passing urine. Hold for 5 seconds and then relax. Repeat 10 times. Never do this while passing urine).

2. Pelvic Tilts Kneel on all fours with a flat back, and your hands and knees planted on the ground. Curl your back towards the ceiling without shifting your body or moving your arms or legs. You will feel your pelvis being pulled towards you and your back arched back.

3. Torso Stretch Stand with your feet hipwidth apart and holding your hands together. Straighten arms above you such that you feel a gentle pull at the inner side of your arms. Hold for 15 seconds. Repeat for 5 times.

4. Chest Stretch Stand with feet hipwidth apart holding your hands together. Straighten arms behind you such that you feel a gentle stretch at the front of your chest. Hold for 15 seconds – repeat 5 times

5. Triceps Stretch Bend your left elbow behind your head and use the right hand to gently pull the left elbow in further until you feel a stretch in the back of your arm. Switch sides and repeat.

6. Back Stretch Clasp your hands together in front of you and round your back towards the floor, pressing your arms away from body to feel a stretch in your upper back.

Food is any substance that can be consumed, including liquid drinks. Food is the main source of energy and of nutrition for animals, and is usually of animal or plant origin

The study of food is called food science. In English, the term food is often used metaphorically or figuratively, as in food for thought.

Humans are commonly believed to be omnivorous animals that can consume both plant and animal products. Evidence suggests that early humans employed hunter-gatherer techniques as their primary method of food collection. This involves combining stationary plant and fungal food sources (such as fruits, grains, roots, and mushrooms with mobile animals which must be hunted and killed in order to be consumed. Additionally, it is believed that humans have used fire to prepare food prior to eating since their divergence from Homo erectus, possibly even earlier.

Taste is something that goes back to our early days of learning about food, don’t you think? We are familiar with the tastes and mouth feel of our favorite dishes. Think about how a bowl of hot oatmeal with milk reminds you of home, or how chocolate cupcakes call to mind birthday parties with your best friends. Visit www.indomunch.com to get to know the different tastes of Indian-Chinese food.

It definitely takes time for taste buds to change. Until then, eat the healthy foods that you do like, and that you do enjoy. To get the 25-30 grams of fiber per day recommended by the American Dietetic Association, fill your plate with fresh ripe fruits and veggies of bright colors. Learn how to incorporate whole grains in the form of pasta and bread to your meals. These things will cleanse your palate, and open your taste buds wide. In time things will taste all together different.

For such an ethnic and mouth watering Chinese cuisine mixed with traditional and spicy Indian cooking just check out Indo Munch Restaurant.

If you are having any type of pain during urination, some form of discharge from the vagina, an itching or burning sensation in or around your vagina or are experiencing pain during sex, there is a good possibility that you may have a yeast infection.

Candida is quickly becoming one of the most controversial health topics of our time. Most conventional doctors dont believe the ailment even exists since there are such a myriad of symptoms associated with the disease, but those that do believe tend to do so passionately. There has never been any sort of ironclad study done on the ability for a woman who suffers from Candida to conceive, the much more common yeast infection form of Candida is thought to interfere in a womans body chemistry enough as to stop any possible conception.

The commonplace remedies are anti fungal creams and prescription pills. The experienced women who are aware of the shortcomings of such creams and pills depend upon home remedies that give reliable results that too without any side effects. These remedies are not only for cure of the infection, they prevent infection. Another disadvantage of the over the counter medications is when used regularly, they lose their effectiveness.

The chemicals in vaginal douches may irritate your vagina and change the normal balance of good bacteria. Douching also can spread an infection from your vagina or cervix up into the uterus, increasing your risk of getting pelvic inflammatory disease (also called PID). PID is a painful infection of the fallopian tubes that can cause you to be unable to get pregnant. Douching is not necessary to keep your body clean. Odors usually come from outside the vagina. Keeping this area clean with gentle soap and water can prevent odors.

Vaginal irritation alone may not necessarily be indicative of a yeast infection. Vaginal irritation is also caused by the use of products such as perfumed soaps, bubble baths, douches, feminine hygiene sprays, spermicides, and vaginal deodorants. A vaginal discharge can sometimes occur in between a woman’s menstruation periods, but if the discharge is not accompanied by itchiness, then it is unlikely to indicate a case of Candidiasis.

While medical science has provided us with a number of medications for treating yeast infection, nature has not lagged behind in offering its unconditional service. Natural cure for yeast infection is usually free of the several side effects that are associated with the synthetic medications. Natural cure for yeast infection mainly consists of diet regulation and taking supplements. Most of the natural treatment methods start showing their efficacy in two to four weeks time.

Over-the-counter medicated treatments cures the majority of yeast infections, however they can be only temporary treatments. The yeast infections may come back, even worse than before. Many people who use natural treatments report never having another yeast infection again. This is probably because the natural, holistic methods listen to the body and gets to the root of problem, while the creams temporarily kill candida in the vagina, which is always present in the body anyway.

Finding the perfect gift for a loved one, whether for the holidays, weddings, birthdays, graduations, baby showers, or any other occasion, can be an exercise in frustration. You may have already discovered the convenience of online shopping, but buying gifts online is a blessing and a curse: with millions of websites to peruse, how do you narrow it down to a single gift item?

The answer is simple: know what you’re looking for before you begin your online shopping excursion! The practice of creating a gift registry is common for weddings and baby showers, but they are often limited to a single store and a single event. Wouldn’t it be easier if you and each of your loved ones had a perpetual gift registry for every occasion, that drew from any store or company they liked anywhere in the world, whether online or brick-and-mortar?

Now, there is an ultimate gift registry that accomplishes all this and more, and it’s available with a few clicks of your mouse. Starting with yourself, wouldn’t it be great to always receive exactly what you want, and to never have to return or “recycle” an unwanted or unsuitable gift? It can be hard and frustrating to select holiday gifts or gifts for occasions and special events for the couple who has everything, the relatives you’ve only met once, your in-laws, co-workers, or even your hard-to-please teenagers. A personal gift registry for any occasion, available 365 days a year, is the perfect solution.

Your online shopping experience will be easier than ever when you introduce friends and family to http://MyRegistry.com. Here are just a few of the benefits of creating an online shopping registry:

* Choose gifts you want to receive from the biggest selection of merchants and stores on the planet: absolutely all of them! You can even register for cash.

* Find out what’s on your loved ones’ most wanted list in minutes, and avoid duplicate gift-giving and unwanted presents.

* Complete your holiday shopping in record time, without the hassle of traffic, crowds, and the holiday rush.

* Make weddings, baby showers, and special events like birthdays and graduations unforgettable, with satisfaction on the parts of the gift-givers and gift-receivers.

* Never stress over last-minute gift ideas again–you will always know just what your friends and family want.

The next time you have a wedding, baby shower, birthday, Bar Mitzvah, housewarming party, graduation, retirement party, holiday, or any special gift-giving occasion on your calendar, be sure to introduce everyone you know to the fun and convenience of the ultimate online gift registry. Your friends and family, your peace of mind, and your wallet will thank you for it. Happy online shopping!

A lot of research has been done to help people quit the smoking habit. Stop smoking, that’s right. No matter how much research, how many products to help, how many aids etc, the decision is yours, you have to make that decision, you decide to stop smoking.

Tip #1 Plan, set a date to quit. By making your plan to stop smoking you will have something to work to. Decide what you need to do, things like when do you enjoy smoking the most, with coffee, with a glass of wine or a cold beer. Talking on the phone, do you reach for a cigarette? List out your habit of when and where you smoke most, when and where you enjoy a cigarette most.

Tip #2 Co-operation, getting that from your friends and family who smoke. Change your habits, if you had your coffee and a cigarette in the mornings, then try tea instead of coffee or whatever you can enjoy without having a cigarette. The way you start your day will have a great bearing on how the day will go.

Tip #3 Learn something new, keep your hands busy. The first few months could find you doing something else to replace having a cigarette in your hand. Learn something new, go for walks, do things that you normally didn’t smoke doing. Think about all the things you did without smoking and concentrate on these.

Tip #4 Water is good. Whenever you feel the need to light up, take a drink from your water bottle. It will help. Reduce your talking time on the phone. Do anything that you used to do without the need to have a cigarette. Water is very important, it has something to do with the nicotine that your body has stored. Drink plenty of water even if you aren’t really a water drinker.

Tip #5 Be confident. Confidence is a wonderful thing. Having the confidence in yourself that you know you can stop smoking and not for just a couple of days but long enough to feel so much better in yourself, smell much better in yourself and your clothes and be so much nicer to be around.

These tips all helped me when I made the decision to stop smoking. I had a great incentive, a heart attack. The medical staff in CCU were so wonderful that if I had left their care and went off and continued smoking, then if I suffered another heart attack, they would have every right to refuse to nurse me and that would be fair too.

The tips above were what I used, I didn’t drink coffee for a long time, drank lots of water, if I felt like a cigarette, I would take a sip of water, it worked. I could enjoy a glass of wine with my meal at night but it took a while for me to be able to enjoy a beer without a cigarette. I didn’t smoke in the street, the car, while taking my walks or while gardening so these things I did often.

I smoked for about 35 years, I smoked at my job because in those days it was acceptable. So that was hard to do my job without having a cigarette. During those 35 years, I had never even thought about quitting the smoking habit, I had cut down from time to time but never tried to kick the habit.

I didn’t want to use any aids to quit, like the patches or gum. If you feel you need something to help with your decision then by all means seek out what will work for you.

When I made my decision to quit smoking, I still had a packet and a half. I kept these in the back of my pantry. I did this because I knew that if I didn’t have a cigarette at hand, I would want one all the more and would probably go to the store, buy a packet and I would be hooked again. I didn’t want that. I left those cigarettes there for about 10 years, I had actually forgotten they were there.

Today I am so glad I don’t smoke, so pleased I was given a second chance because today I would hate to be a smoker. I don’t miss it and can be in a room of smokers and not even think about lighting up. I can tell you it is a wonderful feeling.

Seek support if you need it, when it comes right down to it, no one can quit your smoking habit but you. It is your decision to stop, make sure you are prepared to follow through with that decision. Do it now before you too, finish up in the Coronary Care Unit or worse, no longer with us. I was fortunate, I sincerely hope you will be too. Your body will thank you for it.

It isn’t so much a matter of physical exercise, although that would make them very happy and tired. Mental exercise is an absolute must for herding dogs. With proper training and socialization, they are wonderful pets.

Modern breed research and understanding suggests that even intelligent dogs need training. What happens to a lot of herding dogs that get taken to the shelters is that their owners don’t bother to train them. They hear the breed is intelligent and expect it to train itself.

Also a lot of the shelter dogs are impulse buys from pet stores, flea markets and parking lots by people who have no understanding of what a herding breed needs. An untrained and unsocialized herding dog can be a nightmare for a family with young children because they can and often do become very protective and territorial.

That can lead to the dog acting out aggressively based on his natural protective instincts or based on his fear. This is a broad generalization and not all dogs will react this way, but a strong guardian instinct is part of the herding breed standard. This is not surprising because they have been bred since ancient times to guard the farm, ranch, family and livestock.

Positive reinforcement training and consistent socialization are essential to living in peace (and having peace of mind) with a herding dog breed.

Lost, being an Emmy and Golden Globe award-winning thriller -adventure serial drama, has spawned numerous mysteries such as the black smoke, The Others, and other supernatural phenomena, which remains to leave its avid fans with intriguing and unresolved questions. One of the lingering mysteries of the series is the DHARMA Initiative, a research project often revealed through orientation films found inside an underground bunker on one of the two islands, which have spawned yet another mystery in the form of its narrator – Dr. Marvin Candle. In an interview with BuddyTV, Francois Chau, the actor who plays the infamous doctor, shares his experiences as one of the greatest enigmas on Lost.

Chau, a 47-year old Cambodian-American actor, has come a long way from his Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle days as the villainous The Shredder to the mysterious icon that is referred to as “the DHARMA Initiative guy.”

Prior to his inclusion on Lost, he appeared on Stargat SG-1, ER, Alias, 24, Numb3rs, and GI Joe. He landed the role of Dr. Marvin Candle by going through the typical casting process. However, there wasn’t anything ordinary about the impact that had followed. With the fame of Lost worldwide, also came Dr. Candle’s instant popularity. His inclusion on Lost certainly exposed him in a massive level, manifested in his numerous fan mails and his being approached by people because of his character.

Apart from Lost, the exotic actor can also be seen in the movie The Eye, which is a remake of a Chinese horror film, and Rescue Down, which stars Christian Bale. Meanwhile, he wishes to prolong his inclusion on Lost, given the recognition his character brought to him, although the decision is still in the hands of the producers of the hit show. To discover more about his baffling character, intrigued fans will just have to stay glued every Wednesday at 10:00/9:00C on ABC.

Convenience, safety, and luxury all come standard with a home intercom. Answer the door without getting up, be alerted to strangers coming up your walk, and listen to the same song even when you move into a different room. All that and more is possible when you get a home intercom system.

Why you need a home intercom:

Baby monitor–A home intercom makes it so much easier to check on your infant. Home security–Your home and family are precious things. What better way to protect them than with a home intercom? You can find out who is at the front gate before they get to the front door. Videophone home intercoms allow you to see who is coming and unlock doors from your telephone.

Sick or elder care–It’s not always babies who require special care, and you can’t always be within shouting distance of all your loved ones. Home intercoms give you the freedom to be in any room in your house and still be in earshot of those who need attention. Entertainment–Home intercoms are a way to communicate with people throughout your house, and they can also be a great addition to home entertainment.

Your choices

No matter why you need one, a wide variety of home intercoms are currently on the market. Take a look at the different kinds of home intercoms available so you can find the perfect one to fit your needs.

1) Music home intercoms are both intercoms and music players. You can hook up radios, CD players, and speakers to your intercom so you can hear music through all the rooms in your house.

2) Voice-only home intercoms are perfect for convenient room-to-room communication.

3) Video telephone home intercoms combine all the best elements of communication into one ultra intercom. With this device you can see and hear approaching people and vehicles. You can also control the locks of your doors and gates.

4) Wireless home intercoms install in minutes and are easy to operate. They offer fantastic range and clarity while being portable and light- weight.

You might think they seem a bit futuristic, but home intercoms are rapidly gaining popularity. More and more homeowners are enjoying the security and comfort intercoms provide. Communicating with and providing protection for your loved ones is easier than you think.
